Commission Painting Process

I can paint, frame and deliver to your door. Allow me to capture a favourite scene as a unique oil painting, which will be a lasting memory. A personal artwork makes a wonderful gift from the heart, for someone special.
From photo or client/artist disscussion to your oil painting:
Generally I can work from photos, one of which should basically capture the scene as desired. Then, support photos will show extra details and information of the scene, and can be used to help me more accurately create the desired image. Photos can easily be returned with your painting. If you wish I can take the necessary photos which can be used for your painting. Also I can take your ideas and sketch a composition for your approval, which can be used to define your commission oil painting.
Once we have agreed on a size, composition and colour scheme, the Gallery or I will need a 25% starting deposit. A commissioned painting usually takes about four weeks to complete. The process involves preliminary sketches, colour study, assessment of composition and painting approach. The actual painting process can take 2-3 weeks depending on technique and the need for drying time. I will contact you to update you with progress, and provide you with a final image for your approval, and for any "fine tuning".
Framing generally takes about one week (which you or I can arrange). A frame needs to compliment the painting first, but also with consideration for decor tones. Generally, artworks painted on board are framed . When painting on canvas stretcher I will not always use a frame. Unframed canvases stretchers look very modern when painted around the edges and stand out from the wall.
If you are totally happy, please forward the balance and ready your wall for your new artwork! The painting will be packaged carefully and delivered to your door........
It is important to understand that an oil painting is more than a photo. It is an artist’s interpretation of a scene, using “artistic licence” to define or highlight certain aspects, which will create a unique original work of art..
